About Us.
Established in 2021, Tate Steel are bringing over 20 years of masonry experience and applying it to the structural steel elements of the masonry industry. Qualifying as a Bricklayer in 2005, Tony Johnston combined his trade knowledge with his planning and people management skills to create Tate Brickwork in 2014. Since then, Tate Brickwork has grown considerably and has developed a strong client base in the Northwest region and beyond.
From experience of installing many different brickwork packages, there was always the same constant problem, that being the co-ordination and interface between the masonry works and the associated steel support products, specifically Masonry Supports but also products such as Cavity trays, Wind posts, Lintels etc.
Traditionally, the process for procuring and installing these types of products is a fragmented approach whereby a client would procure a design/fabricator and then a separate installation company and, in most cases, a separate masonry company - this creates numerous issues and inefficiencies in communication and co-ordination
An example scenario is the client will liaise with the designer/fabricator to obtain a design to issue to the installation contractor. The installation contractor may find issues on site such as (in the case of masonry supports) cast in channel not in the correct location, this will then need to go back to the designer via the client and back. The masonry contractor may then find an issue with the installation, i.e masonry supports not being installed to gauge, therefore this will need to go to the installation contractor via the client and back again. In summary one issue could cause a client to spend significant time dealing with multiple entities to get to a solution
Tate Steel are in the unique position of being able to provide a single point of contact service from product design through to installation, with the added option of furthermore incorporating the masonry package.
